TY armed forces talk

The Army is organised on conventional military lines providing a sufficiently flexible structure to carry out all the roles assigned by Government. The Army is a standing force and provides the primary capabilities for joint military operations at home and combined military Peace Support Operations abroad. Lt. Owen McNamara visited ERSS on Thursday 28th of September to speak to our Transition Year Students. Owen told his own story, sharing his background and giving an insight into a career as part of the Irish Defence Forces. It was an engaging experience that students spoke highly of. Owen was happy to answer a variety of questions form " what fitness levels are required for the army?" to "have you ever been shot at?"
