This afternoon our Transition Year students took a stroll down to the Ormond Castle to make to most of our local amenities. It is the finest example of an Elizabethan manor house in Ireland. Thomas, 10th Earl of Ormond, built it in 1565 in hour of his distant cousin Queen Elizabeth. The group was split in two, one took a tour of the Castle and grounds while the other went on a journey back in time with the audio visual experience before switching over. An enjoyable experience linking heavily with Leaving Certificate History & Construction Studies.
