On Monday evening, January 26th,members of Young SVP/Social Justice Committee hosted a cultural evening here in the Edmund Rice Secondary School for residents of Bridgewater House, Carrick-on-Suir.
Our guests from many countries including Nigeria Armenia, Georgia, Bangladesh and Syria enjoyed an evening of
-traditional music and dance performed by our 1st year musicians and Ms. Murray
-poetry by W.B. Yeats and the beautiful "Cill Chais" as Gaeilge recited by TY students
-tales of gaelic games were told by a TY student who spoke of local club & county rivalry
Our guests shared stories and anecdotes with us about their home countries, their traditions and customs. We were treated to some beautiful homebaked cakes/breads from Georgia & Armenia.
We listened to some enchanting Georgian music, we heard a beautiful Armenian song and got a flavour of hip hop dancing preformed by a talented group of young dancers.
Extending the hand of friendship is a value that we firmly believe in and promote here in ERSS. We are all looking forward to meeting up again in the near future.
